The Day Of The Doctor To Be Simulcast In At Least 75 Countries

And the amazing announcement is... The Day of the Doctor is to be broadcast simultaneously in atleast 75 different countries in six different continents!!

BBC Worldwide have also announced that the 75-minute special will be shown in various cinemas in the UK and in various other countries.

CEO of BBC Worldwide Tim Davie comments: “Few TV shows can still lay claim to being appointment viewing but Doctor Who takes this to another level. In its 50^th Anniversary year we wanted to create a truly international event for Doctor Who fans in as many countries as possible and the simultaneous broadcast and cinema screening of the special across so many countries will make for a fitting birthday tribute to our Time Lord.”

Showrunner and executive producer Steven Moffat adds: “The Doctor has always been a time traveller - now he's travelling time zones. On the 23rd of November, it won't be the bad guys conquering the Earth - everywhere it will be The Day of the Doctor!”

More Info On The Day Of The Doctor!

As well as uploading this image, the BBC have revealed various details regarding the 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor...

Before and after Atlantis on BBC One at 8:25pm tonight, there will be 'stings' for The Day of the Doctor that reveal the ident which will be used for the episode as well as a Twitter hashtag which we will soon be familiar with.

They also confirmed that a trailer has been specially written and shot and it will be released soon.

More information coming soon.

UPDATE: BBC One have confirmed that tonight's stings will feature no footage from The Day of the Doctor trailer and will just be the official hashtag and the new graphic for the 50th anniversary.

Happy Birthday To Billie Piper & Frazer Hines!

Today marks the birthdays of both Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler and Frazer Hines, who played Jamie McCrimmon!

Billie Piper played Rose, a companion of both the Ninth and Tenth Doctors from Rose (2005) to Doomsday (2006) and has made quite a few more appearances in the show since then.

Frazer Hines played Jamie, a companion of the Second Doctor from The Highlanders (1966) to The War Games (1969), making him one of Doctor Who's longest serving companions. He later appeared in The Five Doctors (1983) and The Two Doctors (1985).

Doctor Who: Night of the Whisper Review

Released in September 2013, Night of the Whisper was the ninth Doctor Who audiobook to be released by Big Finish and AudioGO for the Destiny of the Doctor range. It is read by Nicholas Briggs with John Schwab as McNeil. It is written by Cavan Scott and Mark Wright. It is directed by John Ainsworth.

Big Finish's synopsis:

"New Vegas, 23rd Century – a sprawling city huddling beneath an artificial atmospheric bubble on a distant moon. Pleasure seekers flock there from every corner of the galaxy, to take in the shows and play the tables in the huge casinos. But beneath the glitz and the glitter, organised crime rules the streets.
Whilst Rose Tyler works as a waitress in the Full Moon nightclub, Jack Harkness poses as a reporter for the Daily Galaxy. Meanwhile, the Doctor is helping the police department with their investigation into The Whisper, a strange vigilante that has been terrorising the city’s underworld. But the Doctor is also on a mission of his own – to save Police Chief McNeil’s life at all costs."

It's Ninth Doctor month so let's get this reviewed! This was quite an interesting audiobook. Not the best in the range so far, but still, interesting. Due to the rights issues with Big Finish and new Who, it's the first thing Big Finish has produced that features the Ninth Doctor, Rose or Captain Jack. It appears to be set between Boom Town and Bad Wolf as Rose claims she's been to Raxicoricofallapatorius and Woman Wept.

The story starts with The Doctor, Rose and Jack visiting New Vegas in the 23rd century. While there, Rose gets a job as a waitress in a night club called The Full Moon, which is owned by Wolfsbane (not sure if that's how it's spelt but let's just leave it at that). Shortly after the story begins, the night club gets attacked. What's going to happen next!?

Nicholas Briggs did quite a good job for the most part - especially with the Eccleston voice, but the Captain Jack voice was just awful and McNeil sounds more like Jack than Jack! There's a nice little cameo from the Eleventh Doctor and he was voiced very well so that's certainly good. The Rose voice... Well, I'm not going to talk about that since it was basically just a slightly higher version of Nick Briggs' (extremely awesome) normal voice. The Wolfsbane voice was very good and I'd actually recommend this audio just to hear it. The voice of the Whisper was great - very sinister sounding.

The Whisper is a great villain - "Justice will be served - justice for all!" and what's more interesting is what the mysterious figure turns out to be. It's a legitimately creepy villain for a while.

I think the setting of New Vegas was pretty good. I'm guessing it has something to do with New Earth, especially with the slightly funny New New New Scotland Yard?

My favourite character featured in this story other than the main three is Wolfsbane. I kind of want to say the Eleventh Doctor but I believe that would be cheating, but that actually brings me onto the next bit...

My favourite line is "Just something Pond used to say!" from the Eleventh Doctor. Some other lines I like are "Stupid, stupid apes! You hit me, I'll hit you harder! Like that ever works!", "Justice will be served" and "Evil Knievel taught me everything I know!"

There are some legitimately great scenes such as the spud gun and banana thing. Daisy's scream really makes me feel uncomfortable because it's so loud - horrible for your ears, especially if you use headphones! Wolfsbane being addicted to e-cigars kind of reminded me of the First Doctor in An Unearthly Child so those were some nice scenes. The Doctor pretending to be Inspector George Dickson certainly put a smile on my face.

Overall, a nice addition to the Destiny of the Doctor series. Not overly amazing but certainly not bad. I think I'd just about recommend it, provided you're okay with audiobooks instead of full cast dramas. Nicholas Briggs is very good as usual, it's just a bit of a shame they couldn't get Billie Piper or John Barrowman to read this one.

Rebecca's Thoughts on the 50th

The more I hear about the upcoming 50th anniversary special, the more I am getting disappointed. Why? Three reasons. 

ROSE COMES BACK

I don't see why this is happening. It makes sense that they want to bring back and old companion, but she is just from the recent series. It is the 50th. Shouldn't they have picked someone from an older series? I find it unfair to all the other actresses who have taken part in the show. Besides the unfairness, I have to now sit through her constant whining and selfishness through the whole episode. That is not going to be enjoyable at all. 

THE 10TH RETURNS

So now that the 10th Doctor and Rose are back, I have to endure the relentless insinuations of their romantic link. Yet again this is unfair to all the past Doctors. Why is the newer Doctors only being highlighted? I bet the most we will see of the past anything will be just flashbacks. This irritates me. They are just trying to please the younger generation. 

THE DALEKS. AGAIN.

I understand that the Daleks are infamous with the show. However, they are in every series now. They have grown old to me and not in a good way. Why do they have to be back? We need a break from them. 

I am definitely not looking forward to this. Hopefully they will surprise me.

Featured Villain: Autons

The Autons are iconic villains who first appeared in the Third Doctor's first story - Spearhead from Space and later appeared in Terror of the Autons - the story that introduced popular companion Jo Grant and popular villain the Master. They have also had quite a few appearances in new Doctor Who - Rose, Love & Monsters, The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang.

They are basically living pieces of plastic who hide weapons in their hands and are controlled by the Nestene Consciousness. While they can bring life into anything made of plastic, they are usually shop window dummies.

Doctor Who: Love & Monsters Review

So, most Doctor-lite episodes are very popular with Doctor Who fans (Blink, Turn Left, The Girl Who Waited) but the first one, Love & Monsters is one of the least popular episodes in the history of Doctor Who.

Personally, I'm one of the very few people who liked this one - sure, it's no Genesis of the Daleks or Blink and the alien could have been a little better but I consider it to be quite an interesting episode.

So, the Abzorbaloff gets a lot of hate but what you've got to remember is that it was designed by a nine year old, and I think for his age, he did a pretty good job with it although I do think the Hoix made a better monster.

Anyway, so now on to why I like it: I think Elton along with quite a few other characters are well acted, it's very interesting to see what people who know about The Doctor and want to find out more get up to and we get to see some of what Jackie does in her every day life while Rose isn't around.

I think the Abzorbaloff should have done something better than absorb people but what everyone really seems to hate about Love & Monsters is the, umm... love life joke at the end and I have to agree with everyone else on this bit - it should never have happened but I'm not going to let it ruin the entire episode for me.

Overall, I consider it to be a fairly interesting episode and I would love to see LINDA again in a better episode but there are some things that really let it down. It's certainly not perfect but I don't think it's half as most people seem to think.

As for whether I recommend it or not, I don't really know...
