Featured Villains: Zygons

The Zygons have, as of August 2013, only had one appearance in Doctor Who and that was in the Fourth Doctor story Terror of the Zygons although they are set to re-appear in the 50th Anniversary Special in November. They have also appeared in the Big Finish audios The Zygon Who Fell to Earth and Death in Blackpool.

They are metamorphic humanoids from a planet called Zygor, have a fear of fire and they are fan-favourite monsters despite their lack of TV appearances. According to a Tenth Doctor novel called Sting of the Zygons, young Zygons are called hatchlings and while they were mute, they were faster than adult Zygons.

In The Pandorica Opens, River Song mentioned that Zygons were part of The Alliance but they were, unfortunately, not seen on screen.
